About Us

Burlington BlueCreeks projects are being funded by the Burlington Community Foundation and enable residents, individual landowners, and community groups to take action to improve the health of Grindstone Creek while also providing opportunities for environment education. Conservation Halton, the Hamilton-Halton Watershed Stewardship Program, Conservation Halton Foundation, the Bay Area Restoration Council and the Royal Botanical Gardens are partners in the project.

These organizations are working together to improve water quality and riparian habitat in Burlington, and undertake community action and education programs to engage the public in caring for water, our most precious resource.

The BlueCreeks project is guided by Conservation Halton’s Grindstone Creek Watershed Study – Our Legacy to Value. This study, which identifies specific opportunities for water quality and habitat improvement in the watershed, was created by a number of Burlington community stakeholders, which included the BlueCreeks Project partners, government, residents, landowners and business.

The Grindstone Creek study identified a number of specific actions. To get the Burlington BlueCreeks Project off to a quick start, the project partners propose a phased approach. Phase 1 will take place in summer to fall 2009 and Phase 2 will be in spring / summer 2010. Further phases will be developed based on staffing and funding resources.
